What’s the difference between Camp Fire, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts?

All three are great youth development organizations that stress character building and self-esteem.

Camp Fire is family oriented – especially since boys and girls can be in the same club – and encourages mothers and fathers to become leaders or assistant leaders.

Another difference is that the Camp Fire program allows more freedom and room for creativity. We encourage smaller clubs with an emphasis on individual attention. All program materials are very well organized, easy to follow and provide flexibility for the leader in finding each child’s spark  image003 (2)and uncovering each young person’s unique interests. We help youth become the exceptional people they are destined to be, buoyant with potential to do anything they dream of doing.

    • Hi Amy. I am Rebecca McClintock, the Office Manager here at Camp Fire Central Coast. I am so excited to hear you are interested in starting a club! I am a club leader myself and it is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. I can mail you some information and will talk to our Program Director, Cheri Hess about what other materials would be useful for you. Our council currently serves more 800+ youth from Lompoc to Paso Robles; however we do have one small club in Santa Cruz. We have discussed the potential for additional satellite clubs and programs, because the organization of Camp Fire has only a few councils in the large state of California. We would need to work with a YMCA or other fingerprinting outlet in your area to perform a background check, and we can certainly provide you with training by mail/email/phone. It may take some time to get the ball rolling, but one of us will get back to you. In the mean time, could you email me at campfirerm@gmail.com with your mailing address, phone, and children(s) names and ages? Or feel free to call us here: 805-773-5126. I will only be working a few hours today, but we will respond as soon as we can. 🙂
